At Simonton, we understand that energy efficient windows and doors are more important than ever to homeowners. That’s why we are continuously looking for ways to make our windows and doors as thermally efficient as possible. From the materials we use and the glass packages we offer to our dedication as an ENERGY STAR partner, we’ve got you covered when it comes to energy efficiency. Let’s take a look at what Simonton does to make our windows energy efficient.
The premium vinyl used in our windows and doors is an excellent insulator and offers low conductivity. Its thermal properties are far superior to aluminum, steel and stainless steel. This means there is very low temperature transfer into or out of your home, helping keep you comfortable all year long.
Simonton windows and doors are available with ProSolar® Low E glass. A transparent metallic oxide coating is applied to the glass surface that allows short-wave energy to pass through but reflects long-wave infrared energy for greater thermal efficiency. This helps heat to not be transferred through the window and door.
I.G. Unit Filled with Argon Gas The space inside an insulating glass unit—between the glass panes—may be filled with Argon gas, an odorless, non-toxic gas that is six times denser than air. With the added density of the gas, temperature transfer through the insulating glass unit is greatly reduced. In some areas of the country, we offer Krypton gas as an option. Krypton gas is even denser than Argon gas which further maximizes energy efficiency and reduced temperature transfer. Which can translate in to lower utility bills.
Simonton has three types of spacer systems:
Intercept® Spacer System : Offers a unique U-channel design that minimizes conduction for increased efficiency and comfort. U-shaped design flexes and contracts, reducing seal failure in the insulating glass unit.
Supercept™ Spacer System : Made of a durable stainless steel alloy, the Supercept offers a one-piece, flexible U-channel design and patented web corner system that greatly reduce sealant stress and seal failure in the insulating glass unit.
Super Spacer® System : This solid silicone foam spacer provides superior energy efficiency and does not conduct energy as quickly as metal spacers. Silicone foam is also flexible and helps reduce stress cracks.
Our impact-resistant laminated glass consists of a durable interlayer sealed between two layers of glass. This advanced laminated glass package offers several benefits: it acts as a barrier against energy loss, reduces noise transmission, helps block damaging UV rays and deter forced entry.
